You love the art of the deal. You excel at finding the best vendors and products and then creating a compelling, customized pitch that highlights the benefits of a great partnership with BuildDirect. As part of the Business Development team you will develop a pipeline of potential vendors. You will develop and nurture those relationships, negotiate a partnership and assist in transitioning the new business to an Account Manager.

What You’ll Do

Identify vendors that fulfill specific category expansion and development needs
Build a pipeline of potential vendors which meets targets and looks for innovative ways to scale the business development
Evaluate the economic and strategic costs and benefits of partnerships to prioritize opportunities
Successfully negotiate partnership agreements and identify relevant services
Upon signing of vendor partner, effectively transition the relationship to an account manager

What You’ll Achieve

Achieve target new vendor partner relationships
Drive selection growth through building supplier pipelines for marketplace and retail
Drive target gross merchandise sales per sku by prioritizing signed partnerships based on expected contribution to the platform
Optimize cash flow by maximizing contracts signed with BD proposed payment terms and marketplace revenue share
Drive multiple sources of revenue by selling seller services and the full suite of operational services

What You’ll Need

Business development or sales experience
Knowledge and expertise in the Home Improvement Industry.
Ability to create and execute on a successful business development strategy.
Competence in working independently to structure, negotiate, and close partnerships
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making
Success getting buy-in through excellent communication and influencing skills
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and ideas in a non-technical, simple manner
Sense of urgency; the ability to make things happen quickly and the flexibility to adapt to new ways of sourcing suppliers to drive scale in developing a pipeline
Applied creativity and problem solving skills and the ability to challenge preconceived norms to pursue partnerships deals that drive unparalleled customer experience and value.
Solid understanding of internet business models/web technologies
A seasoned negotiator; experience negotiating international partnerships preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
