You are adept at applying your analytical skills and a well developed understanding of business to influence vendors to power significant selection and revenue growth. Working as part of our Retail team, you collaborate with vendors to grow selection. You have ownership of your category (categories) and set strategy and determine which products to pursue in order to maximize value and selection for buyers.

What You’ll Do

Act as the business owner for your categories and conducting business and financial analysis including financial forecasting, monitoring and reporting
Work with vendors to maximize their success and BuildDirect’s long-term profitability as well as create an exceptional buyer experience and build a comprehensive selection, including assessing market procurement conditions, recommending annual terms and implementing procurement strategies
Negotiate all relevant purchase components with vendors – often dealing with top decision-makers at the vendor
Monitor and research industry and competitive trends ensuring BD is offering the best for the customer, identifying new product segment opportunities and making decisions regarding adjustment and delivery of set category selection plans based on the local competitive market
Partner with the online content management team, develop and execute collaborative marketing and promotions for a wide variety of products across the category, including identifying and negotiating with vendors opportunities for short term cooperative marketing and merchandising.
Create a category procurement support strategy and drive continual process improvements, such as improving vendor lead times.

What You’ll Achieve

Grow revenue in 2017
Grow and refine selection, ensuring sku productivity maintains minimum target annually per sku even as you grow selection
Influence vendors to utilize our portal, helping them understand how to use the tools available to them, resulting in all suppliers actively using the portal and improving instocks and conversion as a result
Manage your business to achieve a gross profit dollars per unit and improve contribution profit dollars per unit.

What You’ll Need

Buying or retail planning experience
Experience selling to higher levels within an organization
Ability to identify decision makers within an organization
Sense of urgency; the ability make things happen quickly using a process orientation
Strong analytical skills and proven ability to leverage analytics, tools and systems for managing and scaling business
Passionate self-starter, decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve using creative thinking and innovation
Action and results oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong negotiation and communication skills; the ability to influence at all levels of an organization
Bachelor’s degree required.
