The Accounting team at Clover is responsible for accurately reporting the financial results of Clover Health, its departments and business activities. The team coordinates and directs all financial transactions recorded in the accounting system and supports Company goals and initiatives by being service oriented relative to the financial needs of all departments while assuring that all transactions adhere to company policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and relevant authoritative guidance.

We're looking to hire a results-oriented VP, Finance with a background in Medicare Advantage to oversee our Accounting function and lead enterprise-wide cohesion and alignment between finance, partner teams and the broader Clover mission. You will provide guidance and counsel to the CEO, CFO and other members of the senior executive team while also building and professionalizing the infrastructure for our growing company.

As a VP, Finance you will:

Lead a team that supports the general accounting, payroll and accounts payable functions. Provide expertise, guidance and training on all accounting practices and decisions for accounting and finance team as well as other business partners.

Direct the monthly accounting close for multiple entities including full and partial consolidations. Prepare timely and accurate monthly combined, consolidated and individual legal entity financial statements on a GAAP basis.

Oversee the preparation and timely completion and distribution of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc management reports, including budget v. actual and trend analyses.

Develop comprehensive set of Policies & Procedures to manage departmental operations and satisfy internal and external parties as it relates to adequate documentation of tasks and controls for each material function.

Develop plan to achieve compliance and necessary documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley 404. Coordinate the update of process documentation with business process owners including identifying key controls and identifying opportunities to improve processes; drives the effort for increased automation of manual processes

Oversee daily treasury activities and prepare weekly cash forecasts for each entity. Manage banking relationships including execution of covenant compliance reporting

Train and develop accounting and finance department team members to increase skills, assume additional responsibility and execute functions necessary for successful department operation.

Manage periodic financial examinations performed by regulatory agencies such as CMS or various state health departments. Coordinate preparation of deliverables for annual independent audit; document company accounting positions and resolve issues with auditors as necessary.

Prepare all Board Packages including all relevant financial and associated operational performance information and results.

Establish and maintain an internal control environment consistent with sound accounting and business practices. Evaluate and recommend enhancements to current accounting processes and controls for timely and accurate reporting and transaction processing.

Manage annual budgeting and re-forecasting processes, including development of process, interfacing with all areas of company management, and preparation of budget presentations for senior level management and the Board of Directors.

You have Medicare Advantage experience.

You have a BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field along with at least 10 years of relevant healthcare accounting experience with strong career progression.

You have demonstrated experience managing a substantial department and staff head count to achieve corporate goals and objectives for the accounting and finance function.

You're deeply knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Statutory Accounting experience is preferred.

You have excellent analytical and computer skills.

You are a licensed CPA.
